The free newspapers phenomenon is increasing in Portugal. Formerly restricted to the two main cities, Lisbon and Porto, these last weeks the distribution network was extended to three more cities. Destak and Metro, two free newspapers, also state that they will create the conditions for starting to produce local news.
Even if the main press disregarded this subject, concerning the current crisis in this sector, it should be seen as a relevant issue, maybe as turning position for a different approach related with the "conventional" press.

julgo eu que estes ditos jornais irão sucumbir ao poder da publicidade, mas a esperança continua...
Bem, devo confessar que sempre torci o nariz a tudo o que é "gratuito", mas fiquei surpreendida ao comparar um destes jornais com outro considerado "de referência". Fora os artigos de opinião, as diferenças eram realmente irrelevantes: ambos faziam referência às mesmas notícias, segudo estruturas bastante semelhantes. Por isso, interrogo-me: o meu senso comum leva-me a duvidar automaticamente da qualidade destes jornais gratuitos, então será que podemos concluir algo acerca da qualidade dos jornais considerados "de referência"?
